“Interesting!”
This is an interesting piece which is unsettling as the theme is immediately altered and all that remains by the end of the first section is fragments. More melodic twists occur in the faster second half with the themes again appearing in short glimpses. The music here is more solid with rhythmic stability and some unified part writing giving the piece strength and direction. This would be a great piece to add to a flute concert, especially if someone performed the original first!
From the Publisher
Composed as part of an ensemble repertoire CD in May 2015, this fantasia for three flutes is based on the melody from Claude Debussy's "Syrinx" for solo flute. Agogic accentuation, rubato and articulation should be considered from the original work and recordings by virtuoso flautists.
Performance duration (approx): 4'40
