“You can never have too many tone books!”
A new book on tone development is always exciting and this is no exception. Henrik Wiese, a familiar name in the flute world, is a synaesthetist, meaning that he sees music in physical colours, This is becoming an increasingly important facet of teaching methods as they develop and expand. The topics will be familiar with resonance, timbre and vibrato covered more thoroughly than often and with new practicing concepts to give the exercises a different perspective. There are plenty of embouchure photos to illustrate the text and the musical examples used to put these principles into practice are excellent. You can never have too many tone books and this one will really get you thinking!
From the Publisher
In his exercise book Expression through Sound, Henrik Wiese introduces practising musicians to the secrets of how to change the sound of the flute in a specific way and use it to enhance musical expression. His work is aimed at anyone who wants to expand the expressive range of their flute playing, but above all at students and prospective students. It draws on Wiese‘s experience as a winner of major competitions, as a soloist, as principal flutist at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as a university lecturer.
