This tune book by Ed Harlow contains cool grooves for beginners. The beat is provided by the band The Boston Horns, and the melody and accompanying grooves are set in easy arrangements and can be played by up to 4 players. The volumes for flute, clarinet, tenor sax, alto sax, trumpet, and trombone can be combined at will and also be used for ensemble lessons thanks to the parts for guitar, piano, electric bass, and percussion.
The solo passages are based on the pentatonic scale and particularly suitable for the first steps into improvisation. Each song comes with an alternative 'funky' solo song which can be practised with the play-along track.
