Easy Concert Pieces for Flute and Piano, Vol 2
From the Publisher
This second volume of flute pieces, too, is based on today's flute teaching practice, containing arrangements from the classical repertoire as well as own compositions by Günther Johannes Schmitz. The pieces are quite different with regard to style, partly influenced by jazz, Impressionism, world music or film music. 'Das Mäusefest' contains stylistic elements of Jewish music, 'Zyklop' combines oriental and impressionist sounds. 'Fanfare der Gaukler', however, evokes medieval sound associations mixed with modern playing techniques on the flute. 'Ragtime Holiday' and 'The Conquerer' were inspired by the King of Ragtime, Scott Joplin. A jazz version of Rimsky-Korsakov's 'The Flight of the Bumble Bee' is an interesting encore and contained herein as is Bach's Badinerie. Some of the pieces have already been performed at the competition 'Jugend musiziert' and have proven a success.
