This is an expanded version of Four Flutes by the same composer, with harmonic interest created by having overlapping entries of the themes at different speeds (sometimes augmented and sometimes diminished) over octave leaping pedal notes. Rhythmically intricate and moving through a wide range of keys, a wonderful piece for a more advanced ensemble.
