“Evocative music from Eastern Europe”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
This music is rooted in the folk traditions of Eastern Europe. The 'doina' is improvisational in character, starting gently with a simple melody over a repetitive bass line accompaniment and becoming more expansive as it develops. The 'joc' dances along mostly in the upper register with rhythmic energy and a tumble of notes. This piece is dedicated to the renowned piccolo maker Anton Braun so and it's particularly effective in that higher range but it works really well on the flute too. Evocative and fun.
