From the Publisher
This is an arrangement of Frank Martin’s Ballade for Saxophone and String Orchestra by the composer, unearthed only two years ago as a manuscript and now available in published format. Discovered by his widow, Maria Martin, the piece was so successful in private performance that she chose to have it published. It was premiered to the public in 2009 as part of a Frank Martin project at the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, played by Thies Roorda (flute) and Nata Tsvereli (piano). For advanced players.
