From the Publisher
As South American dance music spread to the entertainment halls of Europe and the USA in the early part of the twentieth century, Ernesto Nazareth’s Dengoso (1907 - also known as Dengozo), was one of the most popular numbers. The Brazilian maxixe tango has more in common with the Milonga (tango criollo), Ragtime and early Samba than the more languorous Argentinian tango popular today. Its syncopated two-step rhythms and its infectious lyricism make Dengoso great fun to play and it is sure to rouse any audience. Include the ossia passages for more advanced players in the closing bars, and you'll bring the house down!
