“Beautiful studies!”
There is nothing faster than an andante in this collection of lovely studies which is just as well considering how black all the pages are! The optimistic composers include Hugot, Briccialdi, Boehm, Lorenzo - need I say more? This book is just beautifully presented though (so there goes the excuse that you can't read the notes) and there are no page turns within the studies as there are lots of fold-out flaps. It also includes biographies of all the composers. An investment purchase but one that you will return to time and again.
From the Publisher
The etudes presented here, which are to be played 'con espressione' i.e.'expressively' are all wonderful pieces which can only reproduce the Romantic espressivo style in a virtually pure form if played with full mastery of finger, tone and articulation technology. Many of the pieces here are suitable for inclusion as solos in a Romantic concert programme, as the composers of this period have left us few solo compositions.
