Five famous classical themes, but not as you know them! A deliciously different collection for Bb saxophone and piano with demo/backing tracks (via included audio download code), by Chris Lawry and Keri Degg. Classical Capers Volume 1 consists of five arrangements including smoochy ballads (Queen of Sheba, and Ride of the Valkyries), and a slightly sleazy Hall of the Mountain King, though to more upbeat arrangements such as Fur Elise (a cheeky swing with influences from Brubecks Take Five), not to mention the absolutely bonkers Turkish Rondo (Mozart), in a crazy swung up tempo style. A set of demonstration (sax with backing), and backing tracks are included with the book in the form of the included audio downloads code to download the tracks. As well as featuring the original tune, each piece has an element of written out accessible original sax solo; enabling you to sound like a pro (but with no improvisation required!). The pieces are aimed at players of confident intermediate plus ability who should be able to play all without any difficulty. Some, (Ride of the Valkyries and Arrival of the Queen of Sheba for instance) are more accessible; around grade 4-5 level. You will receive a Bb sax part, separate piano accompaniment score, and an audio downloads code with superbly produced demonstration (sax with backing) and minus one (backing only) tracks all made to sound like a small jazz ensemble. Of course there is also the option to perform the pieces live by utilising the piano accompaniment part (which also makes for a fabulous combo!). Classical Capers Volume 1 makes a great addition to any recital or concert. go on. we dare you!
