From the Publisher
In 1652 a collection of entertaining vocal music was printed under this title. Catch is a circular canon for three, four or more voices on mostly jocose lyrics. Delius has transferred a selection of such catches to instruments. The canon playing is a special musical pleasure in independent voice and can loosen up and enliven the instrumental lessons. The melodies of this edition are of vital freshness, easy to understand and play.
