Lothar Kempter (1844-1918) only turned to music after the death of his father, who had planned for him to study law in Munich. After studying music, he gained experience in various orchestras until he became director of the Tonhalle concerts in Zurich in 1879. He taught theory and composition at the Zurich Music School for almost 30 years. In 1911 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich. The version of Capriccio for flute and orchestra is available for loan.Performance duration (approx): 28
