“Another great Fantasy from Jurgen Franz”
This modern take on the idea of using wonderful opera tunes to make exciting flute music really works here. All the best melodies are given virtuoso treatment, resulting in a piece that is great to play and to listen to on every level. Butterfly sings through beautifully in all her tragedy and this is simply another great Fantasy from Jurgen Franz.
From the Publisher
The tradition of opera fantasies has always had an important place in flute literature.
Opera paraphrases or fantasies were instrumental across the board contributed to the spread of opera music. They were often composed and played in salon concerts or as bravura pieces by famous flutists.
Thie "Butterfly Fantasy" contains some of the most beautiful arias from the opera of the same name by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924). Some of the themes are executed in the style of "musical fantasy" with flute variations and are thus in the tradition of this instrumental genre.
This work is respectfully dedicated to Vladislav Bruuner.
