This ebullient piece from the pen of Luc Grethen uses simple rhythms with strong articulation to generate its energy. Slap notes, flutter tonguing and tapping the top of the piano add extra texture here. An atmospheric Andante which has an elusive melody over a moving accompaniment is a calm and magical interlude before the opening returns. This is a substantial work that will challenge stamina but its exciting and rousing to play!
