“Exciting, challenging and imaginative!”
Marija Esih has written a Bach inspired melody and transformed it into a piece of contemporary flute music and it's a very good example of this expanding type of repertoire. Right from the start timbral fingerings add an unusual texture to the tune that really does sound like Bach. The ensuing variants explore a wide range of extended techniques which make the purity of the reappearance of the melody in the middle of the piece particularly beautiful. This is then followed by a beat-boxing finale which brings the music to a rousing conclusion. Exciting, challenging, imaginative, Barock and Roll is everything you could want from a piece of solo flute music!
From the Publisher
Award winning music by the c.21st female composer.
Barock 'n' Roll blends elements of both Baroque and modern music requiring extended techniques - bisbigliando (timbral trill) note bending, pizzicato, singing & playing. The result is a piece of classical conventions with all the fun of Rock and Roll.
It's another wonderful composition by the young Croatian flutist/composer, whose works are internationally popular. We recommend it.
