“A lovely English piece.”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
This is a charming piece by the little know English composer Alfred Cellier, who was a contemporary of Arthur Sullivan. It has been nicely arranged by Nicholas Foster, and Julie Wright has edited the flute part with great skill. The lovely 6/8 G major melody is counterbalanced by a stronger and more dynamic E major central section. The initial melody then returns in an expanded form before a codetta ends with the second theme winding down to the end. The piano writing is quite meaty and will require a good deal of sensitivity, but this would make a good recital piece for any occasion.
