“Another Carla Rees classic!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
There are many arrangements of Schubert's lovely Arpeggione Sonata for the flute but in truth the piece is much more suited to the mellow sound of the alto flute. In the expert hands of alto specialist Carla Rees, all the colours of the original come to life. Not that the writing is all low. In fact high notes abound, making this quite a technical challenge as well as a musical one. Every alto player should have a copy of this!

From the Publisher

There are many arrangements of this sonata for various instruments, most notably cello, viola and flute, and it has always seemed that the piece would be well suited to the alto flute. This arrangement has been made with consultation of a number of sources, including a facsimile of the composer’s manuscript.
