“You'd start a low flute group to play this!”
This is a beautiful piece of music that really brings out the colours of low flutes. The melody has a familiar Magalif ring, melancholy and wistful, with a moving accompaniment. This develops, firstly with a change to the major and then to a more animated section which will test low instrumental tonguing technique. The ending is suitably peaceful. This works so well - you'd start a specialist group to play music as good as this!
From the Publisher
Eugene Magalif's "Aria" was originally written for the musical "The Wild Hunt", however the project was canceled. On the advice of fellow flutists, "Aria" was arranged for the flute, and has already been successfully performed in Ecuador, Germany, Israel, Italy, Norway, Russia, Poland, Spain, Ukraine, and the USA. Here it has been adapted for low flute choir with the option of having one or two solo alto flutes.
