From the Publisher
The pieces for 2 flutes and piano op. 65, which have now been published again for the first time and which were printed in 1909 under the somewhat unwieldy title “16 characteristic pieces for 2 flutes and piano” , belong to the mature late works of the composer and, with the opus number 65, to his penultimate printed work. Reduced in the demands on the two flute parts and the piano, but extremely accurate in its musical statements, the pieces were probably written with educational intentions for young, up-and-coming musicians and therefore, from today's perspective, represent a great discovery for this instrumentation, which with These two volumes are a wonderful enrichment for the repertoire at this level of difficulty.
