Air has a most haunting quality that is very moving. The lovely opening motif recurs throughout to give a structural cohesion binding the other episodic strands together. Texture is achieved through a challenging use of dynamics, with timbral trills and portamento adding even more colour. This is wonderful piece of solo flute writing that would enhance any recital.
