From the Publisher

Dedicated to my dear friends and amazing colleagues at the Wm. S. Haynes Flute Company, in celebration of being their European Artist-in-Residence for ten years! And premiered by those same colleagues in the Exhibitors Concert at the NFA Convention in San Antonio in August 2024.

This piece is a cool, accessible piece in three short parts - beginning calm and serene, then becoming mechanised with hissing and machine-like rhythms, and finally becoming heroic and brave for the finale!

It was originally written for two altos (and the recording in the video below is with two altos) so it can be played easily in ensembles that don’t have bass flutes - but in order to be flexible I provided an optional bass flute part to cover the (lower) alto part.

Performance duration (approx): 4'

Difficulty guide: 7-9
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is total beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
