“Happy music!”

The star of this set of three sonatas is the one in G major which is such a happy piece! A gentle Andante opens the Sonata, followed by a tricky Allegro, a Gavotte that is really quite jazzy before a bustling dance brings the work to sparkling conclusion. The other two sonatas are good too and unless you're a real Leclair buff these are all you need. The other thing to make you really happy is the price - this really is a bargain!
From the Publisher
This edition is based on the Second Livre de Sonates pour le Violon et pour la Flute traversiére printed in Paris around 1728. Of the twelve sonatas of that volume the third, fifth and eleventh sonatas are being published here since they bear the remark Cette Sonate peut ce jouer sur la Flute Allemande.
