“Jehan Alain Aria for flute & organ”
The Leduc edition is incompetent. It is impossible to sight read the flute part in conjunction with the organ. Why? There are several bars rest in the flute part but no entry cues are given. That ought not to be a problem. BUT bar lengths vary and there are no indicators of this e.g. bars18 to 23 are shown as 6 bars rest for the flute. How is one to know that the lengths of the bars are 9/8 , 9/8, 9/8, 5/8, 7/8, 7/8? Then bars 42 and 43 are played 4/4 and 5/8 by the flute, followed by two bars rest but with zero indication that their lengths are both13/8. One just has to guess, or ask the organist to grunt to let you know where to come in.
Not good for such an expensive edition.
