Product Reviews: Thumbport Piccolo Thumb Rest

The thumbport did not fit my old Hammig piccolo.It fitted onto the body of the instrument but interfered with the mechanism at the back. I had to modify it in order to make it fit in-between the bits of mechanism. It is now doing a good job stabilising the piccolo whilst I work on top octave fingerings. Couldn't do the Verdi Requiem without it.

I guess most flute players suffer from at least some anxiety when picking up the piccolo. This thumb rest goes a very long way towards replacing anxiety with total confidence. I would never leave home without it!

My piccolo has an inline g and as I’d moved from an offset model I felt less stable as though the picc is going to roll backwards. To offset this, I was putting my pressure against my lip. The thumbport has solved the problem completely. Fits perfectly on my Powell piccolo and doesn’t interfere with the keywork at all.
