Product Reviews: Légère French Cut Synthetic Clarinet Reed

I eagerly awaited the availability of these reeds as I was playing on a rubbed down Vandoren Rue L’Epic 3.5, on a Vandoren BD5 mouthpiece because the 3.0 strength reed was too soft. I purchased the Legere French Cut 3.25 and wow! It worked beautifully straight from the box.

The sound is rich, the reed is responsive all the way through the range. Really happy with how this reed plays and the dynamic range is excellent. When I checked tuning, it was a bit flat, but if an adjustment to the embouchure isn’t enough, a shorter barrel should do the trick. A short period of adaption is not unreasonable.

I would recommend these reeds to other musicians, especially if you are struggling with the need to adjust cane reeds because they are only available in half-strength increments. They are the beset synthetic reed to date.

sounds nice, easy to play, consistent. not cheap but hopefully will last a good long time. nice reeds.
