Efrain Oscher is one of today’s leading composers, he Is also an excellent flute player who studied with William Bennett. He has already written a number of notable works for the flute and his latest composition 12 LATIN AMERICAN FANTASIES FOR SOLO FLUTE is another great addition to the flute repertoire. Mirroring the Telemann Fantasies in tonality, Efrain has used a different rhythm from South America for each Fantasy which is particularly appropriate since he was born in Uruguay and also lived in Venezuela before coming to live in Europe. He can be heard playing his Fantasies on U-Tube where he also gives an explanation of each dance rhythm that he uses.

This collection is highly recommended. It is excellently produced, beautifully printed and the pages lie flat on the music stand. It should be in every flute player’s library! - ELENA DURÁN
