“The best sling I've used yet...”
Over 55 years I've had one or two Saxophone slings, or neck-straps as they tend to be called nowadays. I still have a Selmer Soloist I bought in 1968 and it still works perfectly, but it lacks comfort... I have a Klondyke (the USA's best it claims) but it's pretty average. I have a Neotech too which has been my 'go to' for the last few years, but now I have the Vandoren V Neck VSS223 and it is a peach! Supremely comfortable, load spreading, and the cord with it's V adjuster makes it easy to quickly adjust. Not as much friction as a webbing strap, but not so free as to make it go out of adjustment after an hour or two. I like it alot. (And so does Jess Gillam! ).
Now a word about sizing. I use it for a soprano, an alto, and a tenor, and it's fine for me of moderate height and build. On the tenor there's an inch of height adjustment left. If I was bigger I'd want the longer version. I have also bought the VSBB Strap Bar which Vandoren make for this range of straps/slings and it's useless to me because although it spreads the exit point over collar bones it reduces the effective length of the sling. It would only work with the extra long strap for me. Unfortunate!
But the strap as it is, is just great!
Many thanks to Just Flutes for a keen price and a hasty delivery, and for just being there! Keep splitting reeds y'all.
