Product Reviews: Légère Signature Synthetic Tenor Saxophone Reed

As a new player I was getting frustrated with the consistency of cane reeds. This Legere Reed helps me concentrate on playing, instead of wasting precious practice time constantly checking and changing reeds until I found one that I was happy with. I may or may not return to cane reeds in the future as my playing improves, but for now this Reed is just what I needed. I am playing a size 2 on a yamaha 4c tenor mouthpiece, perfect!!

As a beginner to the Tenor sax (two years so far), I have been frustrated at the difficulty of getting a cane reed to work well across the whole range of the instrument.

I have tried most makes of reed and tools to improve cane reeds but find the time wasted is simply frustrating.

I decided to try a synthetic reed assuming that as you cannot modify them they must be designed to work throughout the range of the sax and what a revelation.

I put on my Legere reed and instantly and effortlessly played a full scale. I am definitely a convert and although they are expensive I feel for me they are worth the saving in time and hair tearing frustration of getting a cane reed to behave perfectly and allowing me to concentrate on learning to play.
