Product Reviews: Sonatina for Flute and Piano

Really love this piece. Has some lively rhythms and great whole tone runs. Piano part is not easy!!

I heard this piece on Youtube and loved it so much I just had to get a copy. This piece is very cleverly written - the first & second movement in 4/4 and the third in 6/8. The timing is very logically done and no awkward rhythms. The first movement has lots of runs - slow practise for a day or so and it comes together quickly. The ability to play scales in any key quickly will certainly be a huge help when mastering the first and third movement. James does sneak in the odd note or two not belonging to the scale to add texture to the music. The whole Sonatina has been very sympathetically written for flute. I am having lots of fun learning this piece and can almost play the first movement in just over 1 week of practise. I am self taught on flute but have been playing for about 30 years.
