“Brilliant”
I am learning to play the flute after years of Clarinet playing so needed a good book which I could use to improve my technique, as well as embouchure as I want to pick up good habits in the early stages although this book is aimed at the advanced flutists. I read some good reviews about this book by Marcel Moyse De La Sonorite and have noticed some improvements in my playing!
Mr Moyse, in his lifetime had amazing wisdom and knowledge about flute playing, the detail about embouchure in the first few pages has helped me tremendously and I am really happy I bought this book.
“A very useful resource”
This book was recommended by my teacher to help improve consistency and quality of sound and intonation. The exercises are simple but within a couple of weeks of doing them two or three times a week I have started to hear a difference. (I would love to practise daily but as an amateur enthusiast I don't always find the time!)
I was delighted to find it on sale, because it is a very slim volume for the price, but I will get a lot of use out of it.
“Excessively expensive”
Regarded as essential for the flutist and although valuable for refining tone it is excessively expensive. I use in conjunction with the Moyse Daily Exercises but particularly with the Reichert Sept Exercices Journaliers which I find the most beneficial for good tone production.
“A timeless classic”
No flautist at or above Grade 5 standard should be without this if they are serious about developing their embouchure. I finally decided to replace my dog-eared copy purchase over 50 years ago and was pleased to find that it has been reduced to a more manageable A4 size. Sure, it's expensive for such a slim volume, but used properly and regularly it's guaranteed to help you become a better flautist.
“A must have”
I’m around grade 7 in playing ability (currently preparing for the performance exam) This book was suggested to me as a staple book for any serious amateur, student or professional player.
I have been using the book a little while and it’s been helpful and useful to help train my ear. I think over the years this book will feature more in my practice.
