Marcia Ferran

Hi, I am an Australian freelance oboist, based in the UK. I play the oboe, cor anglais and oboe d'amore. I also really enjoy teaching music theory. My professional playing experience includes mainly orchestral work as well as solo and chamber music recitals. Prior to living in the UK, I held the positions of Australian Chamber Orchestra, principal oboe and Orchestra of Opera Australia, sub principal oboe. My teaching experience is extensive and includes private oboe and music theory teaching. Teaching positions I have held include: Lecturer in Oboe, Southern Cross University, Australia; Oboe Specialist, London Borough of Barnet and Oboe Teacher, Dame Alice Harpur School, Bedford. I have also taught the oboe at Bedford School. I am a sympathetic teacher who is keen to instill good technical foundations, facilitating expression of the music with ease and confidence.
