Profile last updated: 26 Aug 2022

I'm an advanced flautist and saxophonist specialising in classical and jazz. My teaching style is personable, creative and effective and I tailor each lesson to the individual, whether that be working towards exams, performances or playing for pleasure.

For me, the best teachers are those who demonstrate, rather than just explain their suggestions for improvement, so this is something I always do. I also encourage every student to listen to recordings of other musicians playing the pieces they are learning. Not only does this develop their listening skills, but it gives them something to aim towards and hopefully inspires their practice too!

I'm an experienced performer, having been guest soloist with Sheffield University Symphony Orchestra and a member of many classical, jazz and show music ensembles.

Lessons take place at my home in St Helens or online.
