“An excellent piece for a large flute group.”
Kuhlau is mostly closely associated with flute music so it's interesting to see this arrangement of one of his piano works. The style is unmistakeable so if you like Kuhlau you'll love this. The challenge here is the sheer numbers involved - the first 6 parts take on the intricate chraracter of the piano writing while flute 7 and the two altos provide the bass lines. The original key of G major is used, and the rhythms are as straightforward as you might expect from Kuhlau. The whole effect is wonderful though and it is as enjoyable to listen to as it is to play. You just can't go wrong!
